FT 3285 uses analysis, supply and demand to look for technical leaders

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Dec. 9 - FT 3285 has registered units of its Dorsey Wright Relative Strength Top 50, Series 4 portfolio, according to an S-6 amendment filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The depositor is Wheaton, Ill.-based First Trust Portfolios LP.

The portfolio seeks above-average capital appreciation by investing in a diversified portfolio of common stocks selected by portfolio consultant Dorsey, Wright & Associates. Dorsey Wright uses technical analysis and the law of supply and demand to select stocks, seeking the stocks of companies that are technical leaders within the marketplace.

On the initial date of deposit, Dec. 9, the trust consists of $172,135 of contracts to purchase securities. The 17,387 units each have a public offering price of $10.00 and net asset value of $9.656. The estimated net annual distribution per unit for the first year is $0.0744.

The units each carry a maximum sales charge of 2.95%, consisting of a 1% initial sales charge, a 1.45% deferred sales charge and a 0.5% creation and development fee. The fee may be reduced on a sliding scale to 1.4% depending on the amount of investment.

The trust has a mandatory termination date of March 11, 2013.
