First Mariner U.S. Trustee appoints provisional creditors committee

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 12 - The U.S. Trustee for First Mariner Bancorp appointed a three-member official committee of unsecured creditors for the company's bankruptcy case, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland.

Region 4 U.S. trustee Judy A. Robbins said in the appointment notice that the appointment is provisional, meaning that it may be modified and/or supplemented.

However, Robbins said the committee members appointed Wednesday are fully authorized to act.

The committee is comprised of Steven Serajeddini, representing Eton Park Capital Management LP, as manager of Sparrow Creek I, LLC, Sparrow Creek II, LLC, Sparrow Creek III, LLC and Sparrow Creek IV, LLC; Carolyn Thagard of Trapeza CDO II, LLC of Cincinnati; and Peter Addai of Cohen & Co. Financial Management, LLC, as manager for Alesco Preferred Funding I, Ltd.

First Mariner, the Baltimore-based holding company for 1st Mariner Bank, filed bankruptcy on Feb. 10. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-11952.
