Fitch affirms Finmeccanica

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed Finmeccanica SpA's long-term issuer default rating and senior unsecured ratings at BBB and short-term issuer default rating at F2.

Fitch also affirmed Finmeccanica Finance SA's senior unsecured rating at BBB.

The outlook for the long-term issuer default rating remains positive.

The affirmation follows the company's announcement that up to 8% of its outstanding shares will be bought back over the next 12 months.

"The share buyback is unlikely to materially affect the group's leverage in the short to medium term and given Finmeccanica's improving credit metrics, strengthening business profile, growing liquidity and consistent delivery of targets, the group's credit profile remains strong for the present rating category," Tom Chruszcz, director in Fitch's industrials team in London, said in a written statement.
