Knoxville, Tenn., Nov. 13 - FBR Capital Markets Corp. announced in a press release that it has hired Trey Whipple as managing director of its convertible securities team.

Separately, the firm also announced it has promoted Alexander J. Rygiel to co-head of diversified industrials in equity research and the promotion of Jordan Fialkoff and Brian Stauffer to managing directors within equity trading.

Whipple joins FBR from Morgan Stanley where he worked for 12 years, most recently as head of U.S. convertible securities sales. During his tenure at Morgan Stanley, the firm was a leading underwriter and trader of convertibles.

Whipple received a bachelor's from Georgetown University.

"We continue to make strategic investments in our Brokerage team," FBR president and chief operating officer Richard Hendrix said in the release. "This group of talented individuals exemplifies the professionalism, leadership, character and consistent performance that our firm is built upon. We look forward to their continued success in their new roles."

FBR, based in Arlington, Va., is a full-service investment banking, institutional brokerage and asset management firm.
