Fannie Mae doubles issuance to $15.52 billion in June from May tally

New York, July 29 - Fannie Mae issued $15.52 billion of debt securities during June, according to the agency's summary for the month, marking an increase from the $7.37 billion recorded in May.
The month's issuance is also significantly greater than that of April - $6.92 billion.
Halfway into 2011, the year's total issuance stands at $81.67 billion. In all of 2010, the agency issued $463.38 billion of debt securities.
The agency repurchased $63 million of debt securities in June, bringing the total amount repurchased in 2011 to $2.3 billion. In 2010, it repurchased $1.33 billion overall. May's repurchase tally came in at $50 billion.
Fannie Mae said that $31.08 billion of debt securities matured or were redeemed during June, and the total amount of debt securities outstanding at the end of the month was $573.62 billion.
In May, $27.77 billion of debt securities matured or were redeemed, and the total amount of debt securities outstanding at the end of the month was $589.26 billion.
All of the debt securities referenced above have a term of more than one year.
When debt securities with a term of one year or less are added, $735.69 billion of Fannie Mae debt securities were outstanding at the end of June, compared with $747.37 billion at the end of May and $860.79 billion at the end of June 2010.
