By Angela McDaniels

Tacoma, Wash., Dec. 23 - Fannie Mae issued $48.22 billion of debt securities during November, according to the agency's summary for the month.

The month's issuance is more than the $38.57 billion of debt securities issued in October and more than triple the $13.45 billion that the agency issued in November 2009.

In the first 11 months of 2010, the agency issued a total of $428.47 billion of debt securities.

The agency repurchased $92 million of debt securities in November. This is the first repurchase made since May, when the agency repurchased $250 million of debt securities.

The total amount of debt securities repurchased in 2010 is $1.33 billion so far. In 2009, the agency's repurchases totaled $6.92 billion.

Fannie Mae said that $27.02 billion of debt securities matured or were redeemed during November, and the total amount of debt securities outstanding at the end of the month was $635.23 billion.

In October, $35.26 billion of debt securities matured or were redeemed, and the total amount of debt securities outstanding at the end of the month was $614.15 billion.

All of the debt securities referenced above have a term of more than one year.

When debt securities with a term of one year or less are added, $810.09 billion of Fannie Mae debt securities were outstanding at the end of November, compared with $823.52 billion at the end of October and $782.28 billion at the end of November 2009.
