Two of Facet shareholder's nominees withdraw from election to board

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., May 1 - Facet Biotech Corp. said Philip R. Broenniman and Robert L. Chapman Jr. are withdrawing their consents to be nominated for election to Facet's board of directors at the 2009 annual meeting.

The pair, along with David Gale and Bradd Gold, were nominated by shareholder Roderick Wong in March, according to a form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Wong also nominated himself for election to the Redwood City, Calif., biotechnology company's five-person board.

As previously reported, Facet rejected Wong's suggestion that the company liquidate in favor of focusing on Facet's current strategic plan.
