S&P: Estonia view to positive

Standard & Poor's said it revised the outlook on the Republic of Estonia to positive from stable.

The agency also said it affirmed Estonia's A long-term and A-1 short-term ratings.

The transfer and convertibility assessment remains at AAA, the same as is applied to all European Monetary Union members, given the extremely low likelihood of the European Central Bank constraining access to foreign exchange needed for debt service, the agency said.

The ratings are supported by Estonia's strong public finances, political stability and sanguine economic growth prospects, as exports recover sharply, S&P said.

The ratings are constrained by the country's large net external liability position, the agency said.
