Epicor reports internal improvements, prepares to launch new software

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., Nov. 18 - Epicor Software Corp. has largely worked through internal issues that shaped the first half of 2008 for the company and is now preparing for its largest software release in the fourth quarter, Tom Kelly, chief executive officer of Epicor, said during a Tuesday presentation at the UBS Global Technology & Services Conference in New York.

Through management changes and internal progress, the company has corrected prior execution issues in its sales department as well as grown its formerly troubled consulting margins to more than 20% in the third quarter.

Epicor 9, the company's next-generation enterprise resource planning product, is slated to be released before the end of the year.

Kelly said shifts in internal resources and recently announced cost reductions are expected to ensure that the new product is a growth driver that adds to profitability.

Based in Irvine, Calif., Epicor designs, develops, markets and supports enterprise application software products.
