Moody's may lift Enersis, Endesa Chile

Moody's Investors Service said it placed the Baa3 senior unsecured rating of Enersis SA and Empresa Nacional de Electricidad, SA (Endesa Chile) under review for possible upgrade.

The review for possible upgrade largely reflects the degree of resilience shown by the bulk of Enersis' and Endesa Chile's service territories to the worldwide economic crisis underscored by several positive rating actions taken by Moody's over the last 12 months including the upgrade of the foreign currency rating of Chile (to Aa3; stable outlook), Peru (to Baa3; stable outlook), and Brazil (to Baa3; positive outlook), according to the agency.

Also factored in is the change in rating to positive for Colombia (Ba1 foreign currency rating), the agency said.
