Fitch rates Energy Transfer notes BBB-

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a BBB- rating to Energy Transfer Partners, LP offering of senior notes.

The proceeds will be used to repay borrowings under the company’s credit facility, fund capital expenditures and for general partnership purposes, Fitch said.

The company has a BBB- issuer default rating.

The outlook is stable.

In January 2015, Energy Transfer and Regency Energy Partners, LP announced their entry into a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which Energy Transfer will acquire Regency, Fitch said.

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2015, the agency said.

The transaction is generally a positive one for Energy Transfer, Fitch added.

The agency also said it believes that the transaction provides Energy Transfer with significant benefits, including increased size and scale, robust platform for growth, increased geographic exposure and opportunity for a fair amount easily achievable synergies.
