Empyreal to launch three funds in April based on Aletheia strategies

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Feb. 2 - The Empyreal Investment Trust announced plans to launch three new funds on April 16, according to an N-1A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Empyreal 100 Insider Fund, Empyreal Growth Fund and Empyreal Global Growth Fund will all launch with class I and class R share classes. Ticker symbols have not yet been set.

All three funds will seek long-term capital appreciation but will use different investment strategies.

The Empyreal 100 Insider Fund will employ an actively managed investment approach based on the Aletheia 100 Insider, a trademark-protected investment strategy developed by Aletheia in 2000 that uses a disciplined process to select 100 securities that exhibit the most powerful knowledgeable investor-buying behaviors. The securities are selected from a wide range of both U.S. and non-U.S. publicly traded equity securities, but the fund focuses primarily on equity securities of large-cap companies domiciled or incorporated in the United States.

The Empyreal Growth Fund will employ an actively managed investment approach based on the Aletheia Growth strategy, an investment strategy developed by Aletheia in 1998. The fund will invest primarily in a diversified portfolio of U.S.-listed common stocks of companies that are selected for their future earnings growth potential and fundamental cheapness. Although the fund invests typically in large-cap companies domiciled or incorporated in the United States, it may, based upon the merits of specific opportunities, invest on a selected basis in small- or mid-cap companies, exchange-traded funds and companies incorporated or domiciled outside the United States.

The Empyreal Global Growth Fund will employ an actively managed investment approach based on the Aletheia International Growth strategy, which was developed by Aletheia in 2002. The fund will generally invest at least 40% of its assets in a diversified portfolio of foreign equity securities, primarily American Depositary Receipts, selected for their future earnings growth potential and fundamental cheapness. Although the fund invests typically in large-cap companies domiciled or incorporated outside of the United States, it may, based upon the merits of specific opportunities, invest on a selected basis in small- or mid-cap companies, exchange-traded funds and companies incorporated or domiciled in the United States.

Peter J. Eichler, Jr. and Mark C. Scalzo are the co-portfolio managers for the three funds.

Shareholder fees, management fees and other expenses have not yet been disclosed.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based Empyreal Investments, LLC will serve as the investment adviser to the funds.
