S&P: Empresa Nacional de Petroleo unchanged

Standard & Poor's said its rating on Empresa Nacional de Petroleo (A/stable) is not affected by the recent $250 million capital infusion approved by its 100% owner, the Republic of Chile (LC: AA/stable/A-1+, FC: A+/stable/A-1).

This capital infusion was approved by the Chilean Congress in late June and is expected to become effective in the upcoming weeks, the agency noted.

The agency added that these measures reinforce its assessment of Empresa Nacional de Petroleo's increasing importance as a public-policy entity, the strong integration between the company and the government and potential parent support.
