S&P: El Salvador outlook negative

Standard & Poor's said it revised the outlook on the Republic of El Salvador to negative from stable and affirmed the BB+ long-term and B short-term sovereign credit ratings.

Ratings are supported by a stable monetary environment, track record of predictable, market-oriented policies and sustained steady economic growth, the agency said.

Weaknesses include poor social indicators, education gaps and high crime rates, S&P noted.
