S&P: Eletrobras-Centrais view positive

Standard & Poor's said it revised the local currency outlook on Eletrobras-Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (foreign currency BBB-/positive; local currency BBB+/positive) to positive from stable, following a similar action on Brazil (foreign currency BBB-/positive/A-3; local currency BBB+/positive/A-2).

Ratings reflect the company's standalone credit profile of bbb- and its integral link with the government, which owns most of the company's shares, as well as Eletrobras' special public status, the agency noted.

Eletrobras' ratings reflect its satisfactory business risk profile and intermediate financial risk profile, the agency said.

These profiles reflect the company's exposure to the Brazilian regulatory environment, its subsidiaries' heavy capital expenditures and the strong influence of the federal government on the company's strategic planning, S&P said.
