Elekta signs deal to become vendor in US Oncology network of 850 doctors

By E. Janene Geiss

Philadelphia, Aug. 31 - Elekta said Thursday that it has recently signed a three-year agreement with US Oncology, outlining pricing, terms and conditions for Elekta's cancer treatment technology.

This agreement allows members of US Oncology health care services network of 850 physicians at more than 450 sites to acquire advanced digital linear accelerators from Elekta.

The company's products include intensity-modulated radiation therapy and 3D X-ray volume imaging for image-guided radiation therapy. The technology was developed to address the problems of organ movement and patient set-up uncertainties in radiation therapy, according to a company news release.

Elekta is a Stockholm, Sweden, medical-technology company.
