Moody's lifts EDP – Energias do Brasil unsecureds

Moody's Investors Service said it affirmed EDP – Energias do Brasil SA's corporate family ratings at Ba2 on global scale rating and Aa2.br on the Brazilian national scale.

Moody's also said it upgraded EDP's senior unsecured debentures to Ba2/Aa2.br from Ba3/A1.br.

The outlook remains stable.

The upgrades reflect updated views on EDB's credit profile amid the company's growing capital investments and evolving capital structure, the agency explained.

The ratings also consider the company's long operating track record in the Brazilian electricity sector with a diversified business portfolio, Moody's said.

Moody's also said it views Brazil's regulatory framework for electricity companies as reasonably well developed and supportive.

The ratings on the company are constrained by the ratings on the government of Brazil, the agency added.
