Ecopia announces positive data for ECO-4601 in treating brain cancer

By Lisa Kerner

Erie, Pa., March 31 - Ecopia BioSciences, Inc. said it will present data on ECO-4601, its drug candidate for brain cancer, at the 97th annual meeting of American Association for Cancer Research on April 3 in Washington, D.C.

The data reveal that ECO-4601 has a similar half-life in rodents and in non-rodents, and that sustained drug level could be achieved through continuous intravenous administration, according to a news release.

"The data which will be presented at this conference were very important in order to define the route and schedule of administration of ECO-4601, our lead drug candidate for treating brain tumors," president and chief executive officer Pierre Falardeau said in the release.

"This information allows us to define the best way to use ECO-4601 in the clinical setting in order to maximize our chance to highlight the clinical potential of this novel compound."

Ecopia is also presenting a second poster showing two examples of novel anticancer agents discovered using its Decipher discovery platform.

The company previously released data showing that ECO-4601 can cross the blood-brain barrier, demonstrating its potential for easy delivery to the brain by intravenous infusion.

Based in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Ecopia develops novel anticancer therapies.
