Colombia's Ecopetrol plans to issue COP 1 trillion bonds

Madison, Wis., Nov. 16 - Ecopetrol SA said it received authorization from the Superintendency of Finance to issue COP 1 trillion bonds.

The bonds will be issued in three series - series A variable IPC rate bonds, series B variable DTF rate bonds and series C fixed-rate bonds - via Dutch auction or first bidder auction.

The bonds will mature between three and 30 years after issuance.

Interest will be payable monthly, quarterly, semiannually or annually.

Proceeds of the issuance will be used to finance the company's 2010 investment plan.

Ecopetrol is a Bogota, Colombia-based energy firm.
