Alcatel-Lucent USA calls all 7.75% convertible trust preferreds

Madison, Wis., Dec. 12 - Alcatel-Lucent USA issued a redemption notice for all of its outstanding 7.75% convertible subordinated debentures due 2017 held by Lucent Technologies Capital Trust I and directed Lucent Technologies' trustee to issue a redemption notice for all of the outstanding 7.75% cumulative convertible trust preferred securities issued by the trust, according to a 6-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

As of Thursday, the principal amount outstanding of the trust preferreds was $931,236,000.

The redemption date is expected to be Jan. 13.

The cash redemption price for each trust preferred is $1,000 plus accrued distributions to the redemption date.

The trust preferreds are convertible at any time prior to the close of business on Jan. 10 at a conversion price of $24.17 per American Depositary Share of Alcatel-Lucent. The ADSs closed at $4.54 (NYSE: ALU) on Dec. 12.
