Alcatel-Lucent bought back portion of Oceanes in September, October

New York, Oct. 30 - Concurrent with a Sept. 2 offering of €1 billion of 5% Oceanes, Alcatel-Lucent made purchases of 7,565,882 of its Oceanes due 2011 through a reverse book building process, according to a 6-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

On Sept. 11, the company settled purchases of 11.97% of the 2011 bonds at €16.70 apiece for a total amount paid of €126 million, including accrued interest.

Further, between Sept. 11 and Oct. 6, Alcatel-Lucent bought back a total of 12,627,240 of the bonds, making up 19.98% of the 2011 bonds initially issued.

The price per bond, including accrued interest, ranged between €16.70 and €16.76 for a total amount paid of €211 million, the 6-K said.

Of this amount, €172 million was paid prior to Sept. 30.

Also, between Sept. 15 and Oct. 6, Alcatel-Lucent USA repurchased $63 million face value of its 2.875% series A bonds due 2023 at a cost of $62 million.

Paris-based Alcatel-Lucent provides solutions to deliver voice, data and video communication services to end-users.
