Fitch rates Duke Energy notes BBB+

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a BBB+ rating to Duke Energy Corp.'s issuance of senior notes.

The notes consist of two tranches due June 15, 2029 and June 15, 2049.

The notes are unsecured and rank pari passu with Duke's other senior unsecured obligations, Fitch said.

The proceeds will be used to repay short-term debt and for general corporate purposes, the agency said.

Duke's long-term issuer default rating is BBB+ and the outlook is stable.

The company benefits from the ownership of several strong, low risk, regulated utility businesses, Fitch said.

Duke's utility operations are large and geographically diverse, providing for relatively predictable earnings and cash flow, the agency said.
