Duke Energy Ohio to sell two-part issue of first mortgage bonds

Virginia Beach, Va., Sept. 3 - Duke Energy Ohio, Inc. plans to price a two-part offering of first mortgage bonds, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company will price a floating-rate tranche of bonds due March 2015 and a fixed-rate tranche due Sept. 1, 2023.

Barclays, RBS Securities and UBS Investment Bank are the joint bookrunners.

Proceeds from the sale of the will be used for general corporate purposes, including the repayment of short-term notes.

The electric subsidiary of Duke Energy Corp. is based in Cincinnati.
