Duke Energy to launch InterNotes program through Incapital

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Nov. 14 - Duke Energy Corp. said it will issue corporate notes on a recurring basis through Incapital LLC's InterNotes program.

The InterNotes may be issued with fixed or floating interest rates in denominations or integral multiples of $1,000 and will have maturities between one and 30 years. The exact terms will be set prior to the time of each sale.

Net proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, which may include capital expenditures and repayment of debt.

According to a press release, the company's InterNotes will differ from its PremierNotes, which it launched in April 2011. PremierNotes are short-term, floating-rate demand notes that allow investors to use checks to redeem their investments on demand.

Incapital will be the purchasing agent and will also oversee distribution of the InterNotes.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Duke Energy is a diversified energy company for six states in the Midwest and Southeast.
