Akorn to ship $3.5 million order to U.S. government

Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 18 - Akorn, Inc. received a $3.5 million purchase order from the Department of Health and Human Services to buy Ca-DTPA and Zn-DTPA, part of the 1 million unit purchase option awarded in December 2005. The company plans to deliver the order in the fourth quarter.

Akorn, based in Buffalo Grove, Ill., manufactures and markets sterile specialty pharmaceuticals.
