Akamai buys back $99 million 5½% convertibles

New York, Jan. 8 - Akamai Technologies Inc. said it bought back $99 million principal amount of its 5½% convertible subordinated notes due 2007.

The Cambridge, Mass., distributed computing company paid a total of $98.9 million to buy back the notes from institutional investors in several individually negotiated transactions.

Following the repurchases, Akamai has $201 million of the 5½% convertibles outstanding.
