Delphi non-union retirees request appointment of official committee

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 4 - Delphi Corp. retirees requested appointment of an official committee of non-collective bargaining agreement-covered retirees for the company's Chapter 11 case, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

According to the motion, the non-hourly retirees are in a different situation than union retirees because the company has the unilateral right to eliminate their health care.

Delphi, a Troy, Mich.-based automotive electronics manufacturer, filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 8 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-44481.
