Delphi reports improved $213 million January operating loss

Pittsburgh, Feb. 28 - Delphi Corp. reported a $213 million operating loss for January on net sales of $1.275 billion, according to its monthly operating report filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The figures show improvement over a $358 million December operating loss on $1.104 billion in net sales.

The net loss for January was $186 million, down from a $461 million December net loss.

Cash and cash equivalents on Jan. 31 were $193 million, compared with $395 million at the end of December.

Delphi, a Troy, Mich.-based automotive electronics manufacturer, filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 8, 2005. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-44481.
