Cowen taps Thomas O'Mara as head of equity derivatives, convertibles

Milwaukee, June 28 - Cowen Group, Inc. announced it hired Thomas O'Mara as head of equity derivatives and convertibles.

Based in New York, O'Mara will be responsible for expanding the firm's equity derivative capabilities and presence in the convertible market.

O'Mara was previously at Credit Suisse First Boston, where he held senior positions including global head of convertible securities, global head of cash equities and global chief risk officer for the equities division. He has also been a member of the global equity management committee.

Prior to Credit Suisse First Boston, O'Mara worked at Lehman Brothers in the convertible securities group. He has also worked on the buy side, including managing multi-strategy assets in a hedge fund structure.

O'Mara has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Villanova University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
