By Devika Patel

Knoxville, Tenn., Sept. 13 – Agrium Inc. has produced over C$1 billion of cash in the last year and plans to use its capital by returning part to shareholders and growing its retail segment.

“In the last 12 months, we’ve generated over C$1 billion of cash,” president and chief executive officer Chuck Magro said at the 30th Annual Credit Suisse Annual Basic Materials Conference in New York on Wednesday.

“Our priorities for capital going forward are quite simple.

“We’d like to return capital to shareholders and to grow our retail business,” Magro said.

Agrium is a Calgary, Alta.-based agriculture products retailer.
