Agrium files $3 billion shelf

Knoxville, Tenn., Dec. 3 - Agrium Inc. filed a $3 billion shelf registration in an F-10 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common shares, preferred shares, subscription receipts, debt securities and units.

Proceeds will be used to reduce debt, to finance future growth including acquisitions and investments, to finance capital expenditures or for general corporate purposes.

Agrium is an agricultural retailer and fertilizer producer based in Calgary, Alta.
