Agriprocessors trustee prepares final reports, eyes June closure

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Jan. 10 – Agriprocessors, Inc.’s Chapter 7 trustee said it has prepared drafts of the final reports to close the estate and has submitted it to the office of the U.S. trustee for review, according to a status report filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Iowa on Friday to file a report on the status of the company’s case.

The trustee said it has also engaged a certified public accountant familiar with the estate to prepare final tax returns, which have been submitted to the state and federal agencies. The trustee said they are waiting for final approval.

Once received, the trustee will file a final report.

The trustee said he estimates that the tasks should be completed by June.

Agriprocessors, a Potsville, Iowa-based kosher meat and poultry packer and food processor, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 4, 2008 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York. Its case was later transferred to Northern Iowa. Its Chapter 7 case number is 08-02751.
