Midday commentary: Agilent Technologies bonds slightly better following weak session

Virginia Beach, Va., June 21 - The investment-grade bond market opened on a more positive tone on Friday, one trader said, following a weak session on Thursday.

The Markit CDX North American Investment Grade index was 2 basis points tighter at a spread of 91 bps on Friday.

The trader quoted Agilent Technologies, Inc.'s recent deal 6 bps better at 193 bps bid, 188 bps offered.

A source at another desk had seen the bonds weaken 17 bps over the course of Thursday's session.

Agilent's $600 million of 3.875% 10-year senior notes were sold at a spread of Treasuries plus 175 bps on Tuesday.

The bioanalytic and electronic measurement technology company is based in Santa Clara, Calif.
