Collins Stewart, Morgan Joseph launch equity capital markets venture

Combines distribution, client, investment banking strengths

Kansas City, Kan., Nov. 14 - Collins Stewart LLC and Morgan Joseph TriArtisan LLC have created joint venture CSMJ Capital Markets, according to a news release.

Through CSMJ Capital Markets, the firms will work together to enhance their execution of U.S. equity offerings and placements. The firms expect their clients to benefit from increased advisory, financing and distribution services, according to the release.

"With the extensive distribution capabilities of Collins Stewart and the client base and investment banking expertise of Morgan Joseph TriArtisan, this joint venture will be one of the largest operations dedicated to providing middle market companies access to the equity capital markets worldwide," said Mark Whaling, president of Collins Stewart LLC, in the release.

"We are very excited about the joint venture. Providing our clients access to the Collins Stewart sales force and extensive research capabilities will provide enhanced capital markets access to our banking clients that is unparalleled in the middle market. Also, with the additional research sectors covered by Collins Stewart, we will have the opportunity to expand our banking into these industries," said John F. Sorte, executive chairman of Morgan Joseph TriArtisan, in the release.

Collins Stewart LLC is the U.S. Securities Division of Collins Stewart Hawkpoint plc, a financial services group based in London. Morgan Joseph is an investment banking firm based in New York.
