Fitch gives Colgate notes AA-

Fitch Ratings said it assigned an AA- rating to Colgate-Palmolive Co.'s $300 million of 0.6% notes due Nov 15, 2014, $400 million of 1.3% notes due Jan 15, 2017 and $300 million of 2.45% notes due Nov 15, 2021.

The company plans to use the proceeds to refinance $570 million of bank debt maturing on Dec. 7 and commercial paper balances, the agency said.

Colgate's ratings and stable outlook reflect the company's scale with about $16.5 billion in last 12 month revenues through Sept. 30, leading market shares, consistently strong operating performance and credit protection measures, the agency noted.
