Moody’s rates Aflac notes A3

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned an A3 debt rating to the ¥53.4 billion of 12-year, 15-year and 20-year fixed-rate senior notes issued by Aflac Inc.

The agency said the notes will have a very modest impact on Aflac's strong financial flexibility given that pro forma adjusted financial leverage is expected to remain in the low 20% range following the issuance.

Moody's said that Aflac's A3 senior debt rating reflects the company's excellent franchise and strong market position in supplemental health in both the United States and Japan.
