S&P affirms Aflac

Standard & Poor's said that it affirmed its A- counterparty credit rating on Aflac Inc. and its AA- counterparty credit and financial strength ratings on Aflac's insurance operations.

The agency also said that it removed these ratings from Creditwatch, where they were placed on Jan. 23, with negative implications.

The outlook on all of these companies is negative.

"After incorporating its current ratings on Aflac's hybrid securities into its analysis of Aflac's capitalization as well as applying stress factors against other asset classes, the agency said it believes Aflac should be able to return to and maintain a level of statutory capital that supports the current ratings," said S&P credit analyst Jon Reichert.
