Citigroup to price buffer securities linked to S&P MidCap 400

Madison, Wis., May 23 - Citigroup Inc. plans to price 0% buffer securities due July 2, 2019 linked to the S&P MidCap 400 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The payout at maturity will be par plus any index gain, subject to a maximum return of 40% to 50%. The exact cap will be set at pricing.

If the index finishes flat or falls by no more than 20%, the payout will be par.

If the index falls by more than 20%, investors will lose 1% for every 1% decline beyond the 20% buffer.

The notes (Cusip: 1730T0R35) are expected to price June 27.
