Wardman Hotel seeks exclusivity extension to ‘maintain flexibility’

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Sept. 9 – Wardman Hotel Owner, LLC is seeking an extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Specifically, the company asked the court to extend the plan filing period through Dec. 8 and the solicitation period through Feb. 8, 2022.

As previously reported, the company has filed a Chapter 11 plan of liquidation, and received conditional approval of the disclosure statement. A combined hearing on final approval of the disclosure statement and confirmation of the plan is scheduled for Sept. 20.

The company said it is requesting the extension out of “an abundance of caution,” and only to conclude the process of soliciting votes and confirming the plan.

“The debtor seeks to protect its exclusive ability to propose a Chapter 11 plan and to maintain flexibility, so any competing plans do not derail the process of confirming the plan,” the company said in its motion.

Washington, D.C.-based Wardman Hotel is the owner of a convention hotel, formerly operated as the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. The company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Jan. 11, 2021 under case number 21-10023.
