S&P assigns BBB to Williams notes

S&P said it assigned its BBB issue-level rating to the Williams Cos. Inc.'s planned senior unsecured notes. The company is also pursuing an add-on to its outstanding senior unsecured notes due 2026, also rated BBB.

Williams intends to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, which may include repaying commercial paper and near-term debt maturities.

The outlook is stable.
