Walter Energy files automatic shelf covering debt, stock, preferreds

Knoxville, Tenn., March 19 - Walter Energy Inc. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3 ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common stock, preferred stock, debt securities, warrants, depositary shares, stock purchase contracts and units, as well as debt securities guarantees offered by the company's subsidiaries.

The debt may be structured as convertibles.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Walter Energy is a Tampa, Fla.-based producer and exporter of coking coal, steam coal, industrial coal, metallurgical coke and coal bed methane gas.
