S&P rates Validus Reinsurance A

S&P said it assigned Validus Reinsurance Ltd. an A issuer rating. The agency also affirmed its BBB+ issuer credit rating on Validus Holdings Ltd. and its A issuer credit ratings on Validus Reinsurance (Switzerland) Ltd. All the companies are subsidiaries of American International Group.

“The ratings reflect our revised view of Validus' group status as highly strategically important to ultimate parent AIG,” S&P said in a press release.

The stable outlook reflects the outlook on AIG, S&P said.
