Vigeo approved as verifier for compliance with Climate Bonds Standard

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 27 – Vigeo Eiris announced it has been approved as a climate bonds standards verifier.

Its primary role will be “to undertake independent assessment of eligible assets and projects framework to determine their compliance with the Climate Bonds Standard,” according to a news release.

“As an active actor in this field who has assisted the issuers of green bonds since 2012, it was important for Vigeo Eiris to be part of this initiative,” said Michael Notat, head of Vigeo Eiris global markets.

Vigeo Eiris’ “global research and experience will add rigor and credibility to the verification process, giving issuers and investors additional confidence in the assurance program around Climate Bonds Standards,” said Climate Bonds chief executive officer Sean Kidney.

Vigeo Eiris, based in Paris and London, assesses companies and organizations with regard to their practices and performance on environmental, social and governance issues.
