S&P: Vulcan on positive watch

Standard & Poor's said it placed its ratings on Vulcan Materials Co., including its BB corporate credit rating, on CreditWatch with positive implications.

The agency said the CreditWatch placement follows Martin Marietta Materials Inc.'s announcement of an offer to acquire Vulcan Materials.

"The positive CreditWatch listing for Vulcan Materials reflects what we view as the proposed combined company's generally enhanced business risk profile and the overall deleveraging effect the proposed acquisition would have for Vulcan," said S&P credit analyst Thomas Nadramia in a news release.
