Stelco recommends adjournment of creditors' meetings

New York, Nov. 30 - Stelco Inc. said it is recommending that the creditors' meetings be adjourned when they resume on Dec. 2.

The Hamilton, Ont., steelmaker added that the extra time is appropriate so that details of the restructuring plan to be voted upon at the meetings can be finalized and board approval can be sought.

Whether the meetings are adjourned will be decided by the court-appoint monitor in the bankruptcy case.

Stelco filed for bankruptcy under the Companies Creditors' Arrangement Act on Jan. 29, 2004.
