Revel trustee counsel requests mediation to resolve asbestos claims

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 26 – Counsel for Revel AC, Inc.’s liquidation trustee asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey to conduct mediation related to $14.5 million of the asbestos personal injury claims filed in the company’s Chapter 11 case, according to a letter filed with the court on Friday.

Trustee counsel Ryan T. Jareck said trustee Shaun Martin “has discovered that there are several personal injury claims filed in amounts that far exceed the likely damages that the personal injury plaintiffs have suffered.”

Jareck asked the court to schedule the mediation session for March 28.

Revel, an Atlantic City, N.J.-based gaming and entertainment company, filed for bankruptcy on June 19, 2014. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-22654.
