Republic Airways requests exclusivity extension following plan hearing

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, March 28 – Republic Airways Holdings Inc. is seeking a third extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Specifically, Republic wants to extend its exclusive filing period through May 31 from March 31 and the solicitation period through Aug. 1 from June 1.

As previously reported, the company filed amended versions of its plan of reorganization and related disclosure statement in December. The plan confirmation hearing was held on March 8 and March 16.

Republic said it is requesting the proposed extension “out of an abundance of caution to ensure that it has an opportunity to confirm and consummate the plan, or if need be, file a new or amended plan, before the exclusive periods expire.”

A hearing is scheduled for April 13.

Based in Indianapolis, Republic Airways is a passenger and air freight service company. It filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 25, 2016 under Chapter 11 case number 16-10429.
