Reliant Energy Channelview granted 20-day exclusivity extension

Pittsburgh, Sept. 11 - Reliant Energy Channelview LP received an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of liquidation and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company's exclusive plan-filing period was extended to Sept. 8 from Aug. 19 and the solicitation period to Dec. 19 from Oct. 20.

As previously reported, the company filed a plan of liquidation on Monday.

Reliant said the extension will allow it to negotiate and build consensus around the plan now that it has completed the sale of substantially all of its assets.

Reliant subsidiary Reliant Energy Channelview, a Houston-based provider of electricity and energy services to retail and wholesale customers, filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 20, 2007. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-11160.
