Reliant granted two-month exclusivity extension to negotiate plan after closing cogeneration sale

Portland, Ore., July 8 - Reliant Energy Channelview, LP obtained an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company's exclusive plan-filing period was extended to Aug. 19 from June 20 and the solicitation period to Oct. 20 from Aug. 19.

When requesting the extension, Reliant said it needed more time negotiate the terms of a consensual plan of reorganization after the sale of its cogeneration plant closes.

The plant sale is expected by close on July 1.

Reliant subsidiary Reliant Energy Channelview, a Houston-based provider of electricity and energy services to retail and wholesale customers, filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 20, 2007. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-11160.
