RCN gets bridge order extending exclusivity until Nov. 3 hearing

By Jeff Pines

Washington, Oct. 18 - A bridge order will protect RCN Corp.'s exclusive right to file a reorganization plan until Nov. 3, according to an order filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York Monday.

RCN, a Princeton, N.J.-based telecommunications provider, asked the court to extend its exclusive right to file a reorganization plan until Dec. 31 and its exclusive right to solicit votes for the plan until Feb. 28.

The company filed its reorganization plan in August but asked the court for the extension in case it runs into a problem with its reorganization plan.

Its disclosure statement was approved last week.

The confirmation hearing on the reorganization plan is scheduled for Dec. 8.

RCN filed for bankruptcy on May 27, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-13638.
